A Breakfast Making Secretary and Delusions of Proficiency: Tuesday 1st March

This morning’s class pretty much felt as though it was being conducted during a dream, as I was still feeling the sleep inducing effects of the ridiculous amount that I had consumed last night. It was during this state of limbo that I heard our favourite Taiwanese student tell the rest of the class that if he was the boss of a big company then he would have his secretary make him breakfast. Thankfully he didn’t go into details as to whether this would be at the office, or in his private penthouse.

A timely reminder to us all.

This afternoon I had a meeting with the British Council and the Tokyo Institute of Technology regarding the possibility of developing some scientific communication based theatre, and it went pretty well. Luckily for me the meeting dovetailed into an evening of Japanese students giving presentations on their recent internships. It was a minor miracle that my tiredness and lack of understanding didn’t result in any embarrassing hallucinatory incidents. Well apart from the fact that I thought I could communicate using Japanese, as this turned out to be very much not the case, thank goodness most of them also spoke English.
