Blood Character and Ferry Nice: Friday 15th July

The chapter that we began in school today aims to explore the association of blood type with character. Allegedly it is quite typical within Japanese society to determine a recent acquaintance’s personality based solely on the make of their platelets. Needless to say, the fact that I don’t have a clue what blood type I am does not bode well for my ‘Japanese way of thinking’ experiment. Although to be honest I really struggle to see how 7 billion people can be grouped into only four distinct categories.

The refugee boat that was pretending to be a ferry

This evening I caught an over night ferry bound for Nijima, where I will be spending the next three days camping with friends. We slept on a crowded top deck, where there was a constant wind, a 3am sunrise, numerous announcements to remain quiet; yet I still managed to get a better night’s sleep than when my aircon was broken. I was obviously born for the open seas.
